The Park Authority is pleased to offer this opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated countryside professional.
The successful applicant will manage a team of staff to assist in achieving Clyde Muirshiel’s objectives in improvement, active lifestyles, climate change, environmental management, stronger communities and skills development.
Whilst previous experience of staff supervision is desirable, good interpersonal and leadership skills and a good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and responsibilities are essential.
With an in depth appreciation of countryside legislation, the post holder will have responsibility for the management of a range of facilities, sites and activities.
Experience of the planning, supervision and delivery of projects undertaken with multiple agencies, volunteers, schools and groups, that benefit both the natural environment and associated public access, learning and recreation is essential.
Applicants must be educated to a minimum of HNC level (or equivalent) in Countryside/Recreation Management or Environmental/Biological science.
The successful applicant must also have an interest in British Natural History and conservation of the environment.
Experience of Project Management is desirable.
The post holder will work in an outdoor environment and be available to work a shift pattern which will include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
This position is covered by The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and has been designated as carrying out regulated work with a child or protected adult under the terms of the Act. Consequently individuals who are named on the Disqualified from Working with Children/Adults Lists will commit an offence if they apply for this post and may face prosecution.

Estate Workers (Fixed Term Temporary) REF: – CMPA/06/12

(37 hrs/ week, 26 week contract)

Based at our Barnbrock HQ, two Estate Workers are required to work within our Estate Team, from May to October 2012.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for these posts.
Experience is required in countryside/estate work and qualifications in either agricultural, forestry work or similar would be desirable.
Duties will include the construction and maintenance of footpaths, fences, drains and ditches, scrub clearance and tree felling.
A current driving licence with a towing qualification is essential as duties will involve the driving of various vehicles.
The operation of power tools and light plant such as chainsaws and strimmers will also be required.
The ability to communicate and be able to work as part of a small team is essential.
You must be capable of working outdoors in all weathers

Due to the seasonal nature of the business the majority of work and employment opportunities occur over the summer months. The positions are therefore mainly advertised in January and February each year at our Visitor Centres, in Job Centres, in local press, and other media as appropriate. Full time posts can be advertised at any time of year.
People working for the Park are appointed by the Park Authority. For administration purposes, staff are employed by Renfrewshire Council and their recruitment procedures are followed.As well as paid employment opportunities, the Regional Park provides a variety of volunteer opportunities primarily as Conservation Volunteers, this can include Biological Recording, as well as conservation tasks such as woodland management, path maintenance, fencing, drainage and drystane dyking, contact the Ranger Service for more information.
