Description:

The single track road to Muirshiel Country ParkMuirshiel provides easy access to ‘great walking country’ high in the heart of the Regional Park. Signposted tracks and trails provide access to woods, moors and hills for views over the Clyde and Argyll.

In the breeding season Hen Harriers can be viewed by CCTV in the Visitor Centre. This is a joint project with RSPB, click here for more details.

The Countryside Ranger Service provide a schools programme as well as delivering family friendly events and activities for all.


Walks:

Walking in the WoodsFrom the Visitor Centre there are signposted walks and trails in the woods, up Windy Hill or out onto the moor along the mine track. Pick up a leaflet at the centre, or contact us and we’ll send you one. Longer walks include Misty Law and Hill of Stake – the highest hills in Renfrewshire and the Regional Park.

The Renfrewshire Walking Network aims to get everyone feeling fitter by walking. Walks are led by Paths to Health walk leaders and our Countryside Rangers Service. Contact Senga McLeod on 0141 840 3861 for more details of the Wednesday and Sunday walks programme.


Cycles:

There are some great off road mountain bike routes if you are very fit (!) and cycle in a responsible way.

Road

Off A737 Paisley/Kilwinning Road, at Roadhead rounadabout follow signs for Lochwinnoch. Take B786 and follow signs for Muirshiel.

Train

Nearest station Lochwinnoch 5 miles. No connecting bus service. www.firstscotrail.co.uk

Bus

Citylink Glasgow to Ardrossan passes at Roadhead roundabout. 5.5 miles from Centre.
