Locherwood Community Woodland and Ladymuir Plantation

What to do:

walk, wildlife watching. .

Facilities:

parking
toilets
picnic area
information
+ Bird/Animal Hides.

Description:

LocherwoodLocher Wood offers free parking, patrolled, sign-posted walks in mixed woodland with fine views to the Arrochar Alps, Ben Lomond and Clyde Valley. It’s a popular location for dog walkers and those with wellies as the routes are often wet and muddy because of the nature of the ground. On a quiet day there is usually a good variety of wildlife.

The woodlands provide a link route to Windy Hill and Muirshiel Visitor Centre. From the car park it is a 5.5 km walk over ground that can be wet especially after rain, wellies are often a good idea! We’d strongly recommend a map as well.

Walks:

From the Car Park there are signposted walks and trails that vary in length from 2km (40 mins) to 7km (2 hour) walks. Look at the Information panel in the car park, pick up a leaflet, or contact us and we’ll send you one.

Cycles:

Due to the nature of the ground and the local environment (wet and often boggy) we do not recommend cycling in the Community Woodland or the Plantation.

Open hours:

Daily all year
