| Description:
One
of the top 50 walks in Scotland. The Greenock Cut,
a 5.5 mile aqueduct, with sluice gates, bridges and
locks is a designated ancient monument.
Combining the Cut and the Overton track makes for
a fantastic and reasonably level circular walk with
wonderful views over the Firth of Clyde and the hills
beyond. Walk anti-clockwise for the best views.
Old photos and information about the making and use
of the Greenock and Kelly Cuts can be found at Cornalees
Visitor Centre.
A £1 million Heritage Lottery restoration project
is underway and due for completion late 2007.
|
| Walks:
The Greenock Cut is often voted one of the top 100
walks in Scotland. Pick up a leaflet for details at
Cornalees Visitor Centre or contact
us.
|
| Cycles:
The path along the Greenock Cut is narrow and popular
with walkers of all ages, we therefore do not recommend
cycling along it.
