Our
Countryside Rangers work in four teams throughout the 108
square miles of Regional Park in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde
and North Ayrshire undertaking conservation activities &
providing many education opportunities.
EDUCATION
The Rangers aim to ensure you have an enjoyable and informed
visit to the countryside. This is done in many
educational ways. For example
they provide information on walks, wildlife and heritage,
host events and activities, co-ordinate volunteer opportunities
and supporting the 5 – 14 environmental curriculum
with school visits.
CONSERVATION
Along with the Countryside Officer, Rangers liaise with
landowners and monitor species and habitats. The Countryside
Team, based at Barnbrock, work specifically on the conservation
activities including Geographic Information System (GIS),
wildlife recording system, woodland plans, moorland management
and water quality monitoring. Along with the Rangers they
contribute to local biodiversity action plans (LBAP), outdoor
access and project development proposals.
